Protests Break Out in Washington DC

Authorities issued a curfew in Washington DC for Wednesday night.  Protestors stormed the Capitol Building during the afternoon as Congress was debating the results of the Electoral College.  Officers locked down the building, the FBI and Secret Service were also called in to help restore peace.

Protesters tore down metal barricades at the bottom of the Capitol’s steps and were met by officers in riot gear. Some tried to push past the officers who held shields and officers could be seen firing pepper spray into the crowd to keep them back.

The Capitol Building protests came just shortly after President Donald Trump addressed thousands of his supporters.

It’s unclear when Congress will resume its certification of the election results.
