The Austin-East Magnet High School Roadrunners claimed the TSSAA Class A boys soccer state title Friday afternoon. Austin East beat Gatlinburg-Pittman 5-4 in overtime, in Murfreesboro.
The championship for the Roadrunners comes after a trying year for students at the school, five teens with connections to Austin East have died in shootings this year. It’s the first time the Austin East boys soccer team has qualified for the state tournament and now, they’ll bring home the championship trophy.
