The Hawkins County Sheriff says reports of an active shooter on the campus of Volunteer High School in Church Hill, was fake.  The call came in just before 8:00, Tuesday morning.

“At this time, everything appears to be, this call was a hoax.  The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office along with the Church Hill Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation,  are determined to find where this call originated from.”

Volunteer High School was placed on lockdown while authorities swept the grounds.  Early reports stated that there was someone transported to the hospital, the sheriff now says that person had a siezure that was unrelated to the shooting call.

Students were evacuated and taken to the National Guard Armory to be united with their parents.
