Suspect Identified, Charges Filed, Knoxville Police say an Axe is the Murder Weapon

UPDATE: Knoxville Police charge a man with second-degree murder after he reportedly killed a man with an axe.

Police called to Cokesbury church Tuesday when 26-year-old Tavares Harrison showed up with stab wounds and police found a 55 year-old man dead nearby.
It is alleged that Harrison and the victim were engaged in a fight when Harrison struck the victim with the axe.

Original Story: More details about a stabbing victim who showed up at Cokesbury United Methodist Church.

Earlier this week, an altercation in Knoxville resulted in the death of one person and injuries to another with the injured man walking into the Church, a place that has looked out for him before and asked for more help.

Cokesbury Church began a program four years ago that allows unhoused individuals a place where they can shower, eat and be treated like a member of society.

The investigation into the incident remains on-going by the Knoxville Police Department.
