KPD Charge a Man with Second-Degree Murder Following an Overdose Death Investigation

20-year-old Kristopher Holbrook has been indicted for second-degree murder following a nearly month-long investigation into a Knox County overdose death.

Holbrook was taken into custody by Knoxville Police Department Organized Crime Unit detectives in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Lake Brook Boulevard on Friday.

Holbrook’s indictment and arrest were the result of an investigation into the December overdose death of an 18-year-old woman. The investigation was led by the Drug Related Death Task Force.

The investigation determined that Holbrook sold narcotics to the victim’s 16-year-old friend and those two consumed the narcotics together, resulting in the victim’s death. The findings were presented to a Knox County Grand Jury, which indicted Holbrook for second-degree murder and sale and delivery of schedule I drugs to a minor.

Detectives also located two firearms inside Holbrook’s vehicle when he was taken into custody, including an assault-style pistol.
