Knoxville, TN (WOKI) A Knoxville man is facing an attempted first degree murder charge after he reportedly shot his girlfriend in the neck.

According to charging documents, the shooting happened on Knolls View Drive Monday morning after Dustin Finchum and his girlfriend got into an argument, which escalated into a physical fight.

The woman ended up at the hospital after being shot in the lower part of her neck through her shoulder. Her arrival at the hospital prompted the response from police.

A witness told police that Finchum had been pulling guns on his girlfriend recently, saying he planned to kill her.

Police found Finchum walking near the home on Knolls View Drive and took him into custody.
