White Pine Teacher Arrested for Abusing 4-Year-Old Student, Sheriff’s Office Says

White Pine, TN (WOKI) A White Pine school teacher has been arrested for assaulting a student.

Officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office say it happened Thursday when the school’s designated officer was told about an “incident” between a student and a teacher.

“A joint investigation by investigators from the sheriff’s office and Jefferson County Schools administration revealed that an assault had occurred by a teacher on a four-year-old student,” JCSO said.

Deputies arrested 60-year-old Renee West Murphy, charging her with child abuse and assault.

She was taken to the Jefferson County Detention Center, where she posted bail.
