House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., told reporters on Thursday that Democrats will not sign on to any legislation attached to a proposed continuing resolution that is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, The Hill reported.
“Donald Trump has ordered extreme MAGA Republicans in the House to shut the government down unless they can jam parts of Trump’s Project 2025 agenda down the throats of the American people,” Jeffries said during a Capitol Hill press briefing. “That’s a nonstarter.”
The House on Wednesday rejected Speaker Mike Johnson’s proposal that would have linked temporary funding for the federal government with a mandate that states require proof of citizenship when people register to vote.
