Police Capture Suspect in North Knoxville Business Robbery

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Knoxville Police make an arrest and charge a man with aggravated robbery and felony evading arrest in an early morning business robbery.

Officers were call to a reported armed robbery just after 5:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hardee’s on Clinton Highway.

Witnesses told police that a man entered the restaurant, went behind the front counter and reportedly implied he had a weapon before taking money from the register. The suspect then fled in a truck which was spotted near Merchant Drive and Pleasant Ridge Road.

Officers attempted to stop the truck, but the driver would not stop, so officers initiated a pursuit.

The suspect, 46-year-old David Covington, jumped from the truck and ran from officers, but was captured a short time later.
