Knoxville Children’s Theatre Buys the Foundry

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) The Knoxville Children’s Theatre may soon have a new home.

County documents show that the theatre recently purchased 747 World’s Fair Park Dr., the location better known as the Foundry at the Fair Site, for $4 million.

The building itself was built in 1865 and served as a space for casting railroad spikes and nails from cannonballs. It fell into disuse but was renovated for the 1982 World’s Fair. Since 1993, it’s served as an event and wedding venue.

The Knoxville Children’s Theatre is a nonprofit group that helps kids put on professional plays in the area.
