Lawmakers remain in the air over whether to pass legislation to enact President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda through one bill or two, but they held a “productive” discussion while meeting with him in Florida over the weekend, according to Rep. Tom Tiffany on Newsmax Tuesday.
“As you know, the president a few weeks ago signaled that ‘hey, let’s just do one big, beautiful bill,” the Wisconsin Republican, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, told Newsmax’s “Wake Up America.” “But some of us are still making the case that maybe there should be two bills done here.”
By splitting the bills, Tiffany said, Republicans can get an early win during the first few weeks of Trump’s administration before tackling the tax portion of the agenda.
