Trump Pardons J6 Defendants, Pulls US From Climate Accord

President Donald Trump on Monday night fulfilled a spate of campaign promises by signing a number of executive orders, including the pardon of roughly 1,500 defendants in cases related to the events of Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol.

Among the other executive orders he signed was declaring drug cartels terrorist organizations, as well as withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris Climate accord and the World Health Organization, and the revision of dozens of Biden administration policies.

Trump first conducted the signings, which aired live on Newsmax, following an inauguration parade and his speech at the Capitol One Center in Washington, D.C. He sat at a desk on the arena stage and was handed a number of executive orders to sign. He then moved to the Oval Office, where he signed more, including the pardon of the Jan. 6 defendants, which he had said were “hostages” of the Biden administration.
